Flats & Silly Money

It seems there are one or two friendly and helpful estate agents left in this part of the world, and a few who don’t charge the earth in “admin” fees.  After seeing what seems like an endless number of flats and houses, with our favourite ones being snatched out from under our noses, Kat and I finally found somewhere to live. We think it’s a lovely place, it’s good value and we’re looking to move in on the 27th of this month.

But, despite the good value of the flat it’s still going to be a struggle. Kat’s just finishing uni and jobs aren’t easy to come by at the moment, but thankfully she’s still got a part time job which will help in the short term. And I’ve been working extra hours at work, clocking up some good overtime pay. But it doesn’t go far when you need to buy furniture and pay all the bills.

So seeing that Real Madrid are spending £80million on Cristiano Ronaldo and giving him the paltry sum of £220,000 a week has really helped put things in perspective. It serves as a reminder to me that I could be much worse off. I mean, really, who wants to live in Madrid and earn in excess of £11million a year? Especially when working patterns mean you do an hour and a half every weekend and the occasional shift on a mid-week evening. I mean, really, could you live with that? Give me 8-6 Monday to Friday and 9-1 Saturday  for £17k pa any time!
