Dragon Gate Invasion
Sunday started in lethargic fashion but I soon had to get on the go. I’d been out with Kat and friends for someone’s birthday on Saturday night and I was still feeling it in the morning. Kat had to get up for work and, due to the torrential rain, I had to get up and give her a lift to the train station. Then it was straight home to put some washing on and do a lot of washing up. Next I had to drop my friend’s gift round to him, stopping for a cup of tea before heading off to get a new tyre. I’d driven over a screw on Friday and had to drive to Oxford this Sunday so needed to make sure my car was up for the trip!
Week Off & Back to Work
Last week I had the week off, which was nice. Nice just to be away from the office for a while. A chance to unwind, relax and do some fun things. Let me give you a brief glimpse of what my time off contained:
I love the NHS but…
There’s no doubt in my mind that the NHS does outstanding work, so I don’t wish to bash the service completely in this post. What follows is what I have experienced over the course of this last week which has left me worried and frustrated.
Engagement & London
Yes, I am now officially engaged. It’s all very exciting. Well, it is for me and Kat, maybe less so for you lot. I proposed on Bank Holiday Monday, getting down on one knee and holding out a ring, all that good stuff. We’d spent the evening watching I Love You, Man (my choice) and Bride Wars (Kat’s choice) so the whole getting married vibe was big that night. Thankfully, once the question had been popped, Kat said yes… after a bit of a giggle and a hug.
Milwall and Lambert
Went to the Saints vs. Milwall game on Saturday, opening game of the League 1 season for Southampton. (Typing League 1 and Southampton in the same sentence is still going to take a bit of getting used to) It was also my first game as a season ticket holder, having fulfilled a lifelong dream in getting my ST a few weeks ago, along with my brother.
Knees & News
The search for this year’s winner of the Most Resilient Boyfriend award may have been discovered. Al Galpin deserves a massive round of applause for his somewhat incredible ability to go shopping with his Girlfriend, Kat, for an unprecedented six hours.
Fulfilling a Dream: Part II
Last Saturday was an interesting day. Kat and I awoke at a reasonable hour, having planned to go into Southampton to do a little shopping for the day. She needed some new jeans and a pair of shoes for her mums wedding that match her bridesmaid dress. I needed some new work trousers and a shirt for Kat’s mums wedding. We then proceeded to waste away the morning…
The Birdseye Reply
Sadly it appears that the person that responds to customer care queries at BirdsEye has no sense of humour, sending back a dull and fully “corporate” reply. Basically they told me which chains bought their range and gave me telephone numbers to call if I wanted to take it up with them. I didn’t.
The Southampton Bake to Perfection Fish Conundrum
The main reason for this post, Fish. Not just any old fish, mind, I’m talking Birds Eye’s Fresh stuff. Specifically their Bake to Perfection range. (That’s BAKE to Perfection, not BACK to Perfection. I don’t want my Fish problems confused with the film Tremors 3)
Flats & Silly Money
It seems there are one or two friendly and helpful estate agents left in this part of the world, and a few who don’t charge the earth in “admin” fees. After seeing what seems like an endless number of flats and houses, with our favourite ones being snatched out from under our noses, Kat and I finally found somewhere to live.
